The Senator is located at 249 Victoria St, a pretty close location to University Ave and Dundas St. It’s a 1940s-style diner with jazz-inspired décor, offering breakfast and classic comfort food dishes. The house that is now the Senator Restaurant – Toronto’s oldest restaurant in continuous service at the same site – can be traced back to the Town of York’s first land survey in 1836. Bobby Sniderman saved and restored the Senator in 1984, and it has since become a dining icon associated with Toronto.
A variety of mouthwatering items are offered for breakfast, brunch and lunch. If you go there for breakfast or brunch, consider ordering a Smoked Salmon Platter consisting of house-smoked Atlantic salmon, toasted Montreal-style bagel, cream cheese, pickled onions, capers, cucumber and tomato. The lunch menu comprises Salads, Sandwiches and classic dishes. I highly recommend Peameal Bacon & Swiss. The St. Lawrence Market Special is served all week with sliced tomatoes and honey cup mustard on the Forno Cultura baguette.
The Senator occupies a cozy little spot that stands out to the Torontonians’ eyes in the street. If you plan on doing some shopping, being right on Yonge and Dundas is ideal. It has been trying the preserve its core classic setting making it very unique and worth visiting. The prices are suitable for such a place considering the portions are adequate. The professional and energetic staff are fun to communicate with, and they put their best efforts into providing the most desirable experience for you and your party. Grab your friends for a lovely brunch here.

Situated at 33 Elm St, Adega Restaurante is one of the best restaurants in the region. Its high quality and convenient location forced us to feature it in our University Ave and Dundas St list. Seafood and other foods from Portugal and Spain and a vast Portuguese wine selection are served in this intimate setting.
The menu is limited, but all the items are packed with the most precise vision of culinary art. I highly recommend trying Linguine with Tiger Shrimp served in a Chipotle pepper and fresh basil tomato sauce. Furthermore, many guests long for their Applewood-Smoked Organic Chicken Risotto coming with sundried tomatoes and baby spinach. Don’t just go there once, as all the items are worth trying.
Adega Restaurante is perfect for your special occasions as there are so multiple private and public dining rooms filled with originality and nobility. The ambiance couldn’t be more romantic, and the unique lighting is a big help. The patio is one of the restaurant’s highlights, presenting a clear view of the city with its own unique setting. I highly recommend trying their Ultimate Feast consisting of Tender Maine lobster tail, wild-caught North American snow crab legs, signature hand-crafted garlic shrimp scampi and Walt’s Favorite Shrimp served melted butter, lemon, cocktail sauce and a choice of two sides.

1915 Lanzhou Ramen Restaurant first opened its doors in Toronto’s downtown area in 2016, near University Avenue and Dundas Street. Lanzhou Beef Noodles was given the title 1915 to honour its inception year, implying the shop’s legacy of Chinese traditional cuisine culture. It is believed that the original beef noodle-making talents will provide the most comforting flavour to a large number of international visitors and local diners.
The top-quality beef noodles are topped with soup, and guests’ hearts are warmed by a cup of warm beef noodle soup. The transparent soup is superior, extracting the essence of beef and beef bones, the taste is fresh, and the stomach is warm in the rear, quickly removing all weariness and sadness. Sumac Kebab Kitchen, located at Dundas and McCaul near OCAD, specializes in – you guessed it – kebabs. This Middle Eastern eatery, which takes its name from the lemony powdered spice pounded from the sumac plant, serves juicy kebabs with various salads, yogurts, rice, and stews, plus a welcoming atmosphere and helpful personnel. Sumac Kebab is a Persian Restaurant and provides many Persian dishes to the neighbourhood near University Ave and Dundas Street.
Sumac serves a selection of chicken and beef kebabs and shrimp in two ways: on a plate ($10-14) with two salads, rice, or yogurt, or a sandwich ($6-8) without sides. The beef kebab comes highly recommended at the counter, and for a good reason: the meat is robust but soft, juicy and flavorful, and it’s served with aromatic jasmine rice and a meaty roasted tomato. The chicken mix sandwich, which comes in white or dark meat and is topped with tomato, pickle, onions, mayo, and parsley, is a touch more intriguing, despite the middle-of-the-road soft bread. The heart is delicious, bursting with flavour, with a subtle but nice sear, and a bargain for $7.
Sumac has little seating below, but a small stairway leads to more room on the second story. The portions offered are adequate, and the staff is energetic and friendly and is fun to interact with. Sumac gives a delightful flavour to life, so you won’t go wrong whether you eat in or take out.

Kenzo Ramen separates apart from other Japanese noodle restaurants because each dish is one-of-a-kind. The restaurant’s signature dish is its world-famous noodles, which are prepared fresh every day in-house. The thin Japanese noodles are created to have the right texture, which, when paired with their thick broth, provides a flavour that will leave you craving more. As Kenzo is located at 138 Dundas St, we were forced to feature it due to its convenient location to University Ave and Dundas Street itself.
Their ramen broth is made out of dried seafood, chicken, and pig bone materials that have been simmered for over 24 hours to give it that rich, unique flavour. The broth keeps the ramen warm, healthful, and delicious all year round, especially in the winter. Their ramen sauces are produced in-house and matured for three months to give them their distinct flavour and scent. They also have fantastic ramen meals that you won’t find anywhere else in Toronto. Traditionally, ramen restaurants concentrate on one or two varieties of ramen. Still, Kenzo provides a wide selection of ramen from various parts of Japan to suit the tastes of Toronto’s diverse population.
Kenzo Ramen also occupies a small place but what they’ve done with the setting is incredible. A variety of different types of seating is available to match any preferences. The artworks on the wall give the place an artistic look for the guest to enjoy. The Kenzo team is very content with what they’re doing, so you usually see them very happy and energetic. Make sure you pay this hidden gem a visit.
