Located on 243 King St, with a three-minutes-walk distance from the Museum of Illusions, ARDO provides classic Italian cuisine in a modern space with an open kitchen. What distinguishes this restaurant from others is the journey behind it. The Marotta’s brothers originally, inspired by their mother, opened a restaurant on the water in Milazzo. After a love story, Roberto, one of the brothers, came to begin a new life in Canada. ARDO Restaurant is a reflection of passion for family and the journey from Milazzo to Toronto.
This restaurant is all about introducing a specific type of Italian cuisine, Sicilian. As the chef of two start-up restaurants here, Roberto has continuously delighted his diners with his homeland’s delicate flavours. The signature Gnocchi consists of Fior di Latte, Sicilian sausage, and rapini, making a statement. For the dessert, make sure you try their Cannoli since it is known to be the city’s best Cannoli.
They also offer an exquisite wine list, which is perfect for wine enthusiasts or those who are eager to find more about wine. The servers are super helpful. All you have to do is relax at the bar, and the bartender will guide you through the best wines of Sicily and other countries as well.
As a cozy place, they are quite well organized and clean. The vibe of the restaurant makes for a fabulous friends-and-family gathering. The friendly staff makes your experience more comfortable. If you have visited ARDO, you’re probably a fan already; if not, make sure you do.

Patrician Grill has been a family-owned restaurant since 1967, and with its cozy booths and long 50s style countertop overlooking the kitchen, it provides probably the last great classic diner near the Museum of Illusions. Sadly, the original owners passed away or retired, and their children, Terry and Chris, have taken over and done their best to keep the original concept by serving up the traditional homemade food.
Their authentic menu is one of the reasons for their long-time success. If you want a decent breakfast in a proper environment, it’s your place. They offer more-or-less ten meals for breakfast, and they meet everyone’s expectations. All the breakfast options are served with a choice of French fries, mashed potatoes or home fries, toast, and coleslaw. The long list of toasted and triple-decker sandwiches is also a gem. But the burgers are quite exceptional; Banquet Burger Deluxe, consisting of bacon, cheese onions, relish, tomatoes with French fries and coleslaw, reminds us how tasty a quality burger grilled on the flat top really is.
As an old-school restaurant, they only accept cash; however, they also have an ATM in the basement; but try going with the classic vibe and have money with yourself already. The place is cozy and contains multiple comfortable booths, and everyone seems to be so happy, making your experience as enjoyable as possible. The owners and the crew treat you like a neighbour, and they are pretty fun to communicate with.
